View Full Version : Profile mention?

We are currently using a journaling software on our forums but are looking to make a change - we're in the testing phase with vBDrupal and I had a quick question.
First, we have over 100K members, not all members will participate in the blog feature we plan to use...but we'd like to make it easy for our members to see which members do participate. With our journal software, it mentions the blog on their profile, with a link. Is this an option in vBDrupal?
Because there is no "listing" of all the blogs on the blog page - this may actually be a deal breaker for us - and that really frustrates me, because I really like vBDrupal a lot...
Any tips/advice/suggestions?

Tamarian has accomodated us with your first question. You can create a profile field in vBulletin and it will indicate whether or not the user has created a blog and you can display this in the profile, post, or anywhere else.
If you are speaking of something like the blog list metioned here:
http://www.vbdrupal.org/forum/showthread.php?t=96
I will begin work on it today.

sifuhall,
Thank you - can you tell me where I can find information on how to set the profile field for this to work?

Any tips on where I can find Tamarian's post that outlines what we have to do for this function?
We've got over 100K members that use our site - vBDrupal won't be an option for us if we can't do this one thing - please advise :)

Visit your vB AdminCP -> vB Options -> vB Drupal, and enter the custom profile field number.

Ok, I'm confused - will this profile field be automatic, or will it be a field that the member is required to populate?
Also, what should the settings be for the profile field? Single Line Text box - but what else?
Thanks in advance :)

Nothing special, just create a new hidden userfield, the defaults will do. It will be set to 1 if the user has enterd content. So a template conditions can see if it's 1, then show a button or a link to their blogs: url/blog/userid
