profile.php 404 error

I can't figure this one out. A lot of people trigger a 404 error on my site for the "page" profile.php.
Ok, this is a vBulletin page. But I can't figure out how they get to that incorrect page. And there are too many people that trigger that error, so it couldn't be intentional.

Anyone else figure out what could cause this?

The only place I can think of is the header template for PM's.

as soon as I've replaced the disk in that system I'll check it

Might want to check the apache logs to see the referring page.

it comes from the front page and they are all "post" requests
