The forum thread for a node is created when the node is submitted. But if you put nodes first in the moderation queue it won't be visible for normal users until it has been published.
So I think it's best to postpone the forum thread until the node has been removed from the moderation queue.

Ofcourse there's an additional issue, but I consider this a bug in drupal. When the user edit's his own nodes it will be put back in the moderation queue, thus breaking the link to the node from the forum again. It would have been nicer if drupal simply showed the previous version until the new one has been improved.
Ofcourse a nicer message than "accessed denied" would also be better.

I agree with that idea, but something small along the same lines is that when you delete a node in your Drupal site, the Vb thread stays around. I dont think that should happen.

I think the most logical way is:
- creating the forum thread only when the posting node is published
- creating the forum thread only if the author wants to (example: I don't want comments on my "about" or "contact" pages...)
- let the author manually moderate his thread and chose what to do when he deletes his posting node (he may want to move the thread to another forum like "archives")
- temporarly closing thread when the news is beeing edited

That's for the most common use (could be the default configuration), it would be nice to add behavior choices in the vbdrupal settings so as to address specific needs.
